NBN Co boss retires

NBN Co chief executive officer Mike Quigley says he is retiring from corporate life after four years leading the rollout of the network. “My job was to lay the foundations for the NBN for the next 30 years. That job is largely complete,” said Quigley. Mike Quigley will stay on board until NBN Co appoint a new sucessor.

Lenovo releases a 27″ tablet

Lenovo has launched a 27″ tablet at the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show. The tablet named ‘Horizon’ runs like a normal desktop computer, operating on a Windows 8 platform and containing one terabyte of storage. The tablet was designed to run specially Lenovo designed table games. When you lay the tablet flat, four people can sit around the screen and play games like Monopoly and air hockey on it.

Internet messaging overtakes SMS

A research paper released this week by Informa, revealed that more people are using the Internet for messaging rather than sending SMS’s.

The short messaging service (SMS) has been a popular method of communication for the past 20 years. Though since the advent of new, free messaging apps like WhatsApp, Viber, KakaoTalk and Apple’s iMessage have emerged, resarch is showing a decline in SMS use.

Exetel ADSL service disruption over the weekend

We have been notified of a hardware failure that may be affecting some of our customers connecting to the internet with Exetel. The problem was first identified 4pm 17th May and is due to be resolved at noon 20.05.13.  However we are aware that the problem may still be persisting (as of 08:45hrs 21.05.13).

If you have any questions or would like to report the fault on your connection please dont hesitate to call and we will pass on specific information to the technicians at Exetel.

Ask Conroy and Turnbull a question

On May 6th at 9:45am AEST members of the public will be putting pre-selected questions to the Communications Minister Stephen Conroy and Shadow Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull via the OurSay website. The public have been welcomed to ask or vote on questions they would like to ask the Ministers before the 6th of May.
